ADVENTURE SAILING NO SAILING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Entering GRADES 5-9 This unique program is based in exploration! It is a fun combination of sailing and science and how discovery in both fields can work together in a STEM based program. These classes are taught in partnership with Iowa Lakeside Laboratories and the Okoboji Sailing Center. Students will discover areas of science that include biology of our lakes, herpetology and water quality monitoring with sailing destinations around West Lake Okoboji. **Lunch Included** June 12-13 Where did these Lakes Come From? Focus on the Great Lakes Area formation that includes geologic and archeological perspectives. Afternoon Sailing June 19-20 Herpetology Explore local reptiles and amphibians of the Iowa Great Lakes. Romp around local wetlands in search of these critters Afternoon sailing. July 10-11 Junior CLAMP-ologist Cooperative Lakes Area Monitoring Project (CLAMP) is a volunteer lake monitoring program started in 1999. Students will collect and study water samples, learning about water quality in the lakes area. Afternoon sailing. July 24-25 Bees and the Breeze. "Pollen thief, nectar robber or hero". Join us as we study the world of plant/insect interactions. Morning sailing. |
