Our race programs are geared for students that enjoy fun and competition. We build curriculum that hone boat handling skills so athletes may focus on boat-on-boat tactics and strategy as they negotiate the race course. Our top priorities are to teach the merits of sportsmanship and teamwork; guiding these athletes in lessons that last a lifetime.

Dear X-Boat sailors and family,
As we all know this summer of 2020 has not been one we have been expecting. All of us at the Okoboji Sailing Center have been working hard to put together a safe environment for your kids to come and still get a sailing education and experience this summer. As of right now, we have put together what we believe is a safe sailing education at the sailing school. All programs will follow the Iowa Department of Public Health and CDC guidelines to better ensure the safety of your child, and everybody they may interact with at the sailing school.
This training program will be three days per week with two sessions on each day. To protect your student sailor and the community we will only have four boats in one session at a time. The first session will be from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The second session will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We ask that each boat provides their own crew that they will sail with every time to again better ensure their safety. The curriculum we have put into place is geared to build a good base for all the kids to grow and learn from. We feel that starting with the basics and building fundamental skills will provide a great opportunity for your child to become a successful sailor. This program also provides another great opportunity of one-on-one time with the skipper, crew, and instructor. With the nature of everything going on, we will maintain social distancing on land and the water. One instructor will be privately coaching one boat at a time. Therefore we will have 3-4 instructors on the water at a time. We think this is a great opportunity for your child to learn and become the sailors they want to be. Most importantly, we want to keep everybody safe during these unprecedented times, but we also want to have as much fun as possible.
Thank you,
Your OSC Instructors

The X-Boat Racing program is the hallmark of the Okoboji Sailing Center. This program is designed as a series to promote summer long training for our most advanced race focused sailors.
Typically, our double-handed teams compete for seasonal standings with our partner organization, the Okoboji Yacht Club, as well as throughout the the region in the ILYA attending many off lake regattas where the Okoboji Sailing Center sponsors coaching to our traveling teams.
Our training will include individualized coaching geared to each teams needs. Analysis will be completed via on-the-water data collection, videography, and through our instructor interaction with your team. Coaching observations will be transmitted to each boat program through a secure, online team portal for follow-up review.
This program is split into two sessions throughout the summer and includes a weekday race series and regularly scheduled professional race clinic instruction.
